Kaleke Kasome over the years has drafted and implemented a number of activities among which include sensitization campaigns, a fully furnished public library/children center, organized holiday camps for adolescent girls and boys, trained over 111 young people in tailoring and how to make reusable sanitary pads to improve menstrual hygiene management of adolescent girls and handled over 156 child sexual abuse cases which has changed the mindset of communities and encouraged participation and promotion of the rights of children in communities, Educated 63 vulnerable girls and 26 boys through our scholarship program, provided free library services to 3032 children from the surrounding communities and basic computer skills to 85 young people, provided scholastic materials and reusable sanitary pads to over 5000 children/adolescents and lastly trained & supported 26 teenage mothers to startups income generating initiatives ie: baking, farming, tailoring etc.
Over 56 communities have been greatly impacted through our awareness campaign programs that empower community members to speak up and demand for justice for survivors of sexual violence by collaborating with authorities through the referral system, which has helped involve over 20,000 people through the different interventions (Programs).
The organization has a well stretched work plan that helps it scale up its activities throughout Mpigi district to advocate against domestic violence in many marginalized communities through its core programs areas that include Child Safety & Protection, Education Attainment, Adolescent Health, Livelihoods and Economic empowerment.
Our programs are effective in tackling the crisis because they are resource observant, emphasize accountability, creativity, encourage innovation with participatory programs that involve engaging community members in issues that affect children. In its programs, the organization intends to engage all stakeholders at the grassroots to ensure sustainability.
In Uganda, an area of economic poverty, it’s evident that a big percentage of girls today are dropping out of school each year due to financial constrains, that most of them are failing to meet the school basic requirements and fees.
