Protecting Children,
Securing Futures
Eradicating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Mpigi District through awareness, psychosocial support, and community-driven advocacy.
Every Child Deserves to Be Safe
At KAKAF, we believe that no child should suffer violence, abuse, or exploitation. Our Child Protection program is our most foundational work — because a child who does not feel safe cannot learn, grow, or thrive.
We work at the community level in Mpigi District to shift deeply rooted cultural norms that enable violence, partnering with local leaders, schools, law enforcement, and medical professionals to create a complete safety network around every child we reach.
Our Core Activities
A multi-pronged approach that addresses child protection from prevention all the way through to healing and justice.
Rights Awareness Campaigns
Community-wide sensitization educating parents, teachers, and children on child rights, recognizing signs of abuse, and clear reporting pathways to safety.
Psychosocial Support
One-on-one and group counseling sessions using trauma-informed practices to help survivors and at-risk youth process their experiences and build resilience.
Case Referral & Follow-up
Robust partnerships with law enforcement, the courts, and healthcare facilities to ensure every reported case is documented, investigated, and followed to resolution.
Stakeholder Dialogues
Structured community dialogues engaging local leaders, parents, religious leaders, and teachers as active agents of change and protection in their communities.
Child-Friendly Safe Spaces
Creating and maintaining physical and emotional safe spaces where children can come, report concerns, play, and access support without fear or judgment.
School-Based Programs
Training teachers as first-responders to child abuse and running child rights clubs that empower students to know and assert their own rights.
"Before KAKAF came to our village, children were afraid to speak. My daughter was hurt, and we didn't know what to do or who to call. The foundation guided us every step of the way — from the police to the hospital to the counselor. Today, she is healing and back in school. We are forever grateful."— A Parent from Mpigi District, 2024
Why This Work Matters
Uganda has one of the highest rates of violence against children in sub-Saharan Africa. In Mpigi District, cultural silence around abuse has historically meant that perpetrators go unpunished and survivors are left without support.
KAKAF's work breaks this cycle. By creating both the knowledge and the infrastructure for protection, we are building communities where children are valued, protected, and free to reach their full potential.
